The Study on English Clauses: Retrospects and Prospects

英语从句具有句法结构的复杂性,是英语复合句的必备成份。其句法研究有助于理清英语从句的认知加工难度及其差异。通过回顾梳理国内外英语从句的主要研究成果,并据此指出,当前英语从句研究仍然缺乏整体性及差异性的系统探索。同时,对英语从句的未来研究走向及研究方法突破进行了展望。

English clauses, which are an essential component of English complex sentences, are characterized by the syntactic complexity. Studies in English clauses will help to make sense of the cognitive processing difficulty and clarify the syntactic differences among them. This paper reviews the main research achievements of English clauses at home and abroad and it is pointed out that there exists the lack of the integrity and systemetic exploration in the current researches of English clauses and for these deficiencies, the author prospects the future research orientation and breakthrough of research methods of English clauses.
