城市如同一个生命有机体,有其内在的演化进程。地图是在主观认识基础上的城市形态符号化表达,展示城市形态演化和生命发展历程,并影响着城市治理者和市民对城市的认识理解以及规划构建。以《武汉市地图集》为例,从时间演化、空间变迁、文化构筑、经济发展、功能转换等角度诠释了地图与城市演化进程的互融机制。

The city is similar to a life organism with its inner evolution process. Map is the signifying expression of the city form based on the subjective cognizance, showing the city form evolution and life development course. The map also influences the comprehension and planning of the city for the city leaders and citizens. Taking the Atlas of Wuhan for example, the paper elaborated the mutually melt mechanism of the map and city evolution process, form the angles of timed evolution, spatial change, culture construct, economic development and functional transformation.
