Lin Zexu built a massive intricate network of relationships in imperial examinations by keeping contact with Zuozhu, Tongnian and Mensheng. Theinteractive network consolidated their friendship and guaranteed the genuine interests for each other. In asense, the case of Lin Zexu reflects the basic mode and features for scholar-bureaucrats to build the interpersonal network in imperial examinations in the Jiadao period of the Qing dynasty, from which the operation ofthe network can also be detected.
