摘要
王德威评论晚清文学时提出的"被压抑的现代性"一说备受学界关注。这一观点的提出丰富了中国现代文学现代性的多重内涵,极具启发意义。然而,王德威此论在破除线性时间观念、采用一种福柯式的空间化的历史考察方式上不免有失当之处。在呈现晚清的"众声喧哗"时,过多地停留在美学的领域中,忽视了文学与社会之间的复杂联系,且在理解中国文学的现代性时,带有一种隐含的西方标准。
The"repressed modernities",put forward by Wang Dewei when he criticizes late Qing fiction,has become a hot topic for academic circle. This view is quite enlightening and has enriched the multiple connotation of modernity in modern Chinese literature. However,it is somewhat inappropriate in breaking the linear time concept while adopting a Foucauldian,spatially oriented way for historical investigation. When presenting various literary voices of the late Qing,he has paid too much attention to aesthetics and neglected the complex relationship between literature and society. Meanwhile,his understanding of modernity in Chinese literature implies the western standard.
