＂Song of Despair＂

加西亚·罗卡（GarciaLorca）戏剧《血婚》（BloodWedding）以此言作结：“惊声尖叫的暗黑根源”（西班牙文是“laoscuraraizdelgrito”）。①较诸抽象语言，这个意象更能暗示莎士比亚《李尔王》所要表达的。惊声尖叫开始于文字与苦难的终结。巴斯卡（Pascal）也曾有类似说法，大意约略是：“那些无尽空间的永恒沉默吓坏我了。”

Garcia Lorca ends his play Blood Wedding with the words, ＂ la oscura raiz del grito＂--＂ the dark root of the scream＂ The image suggests better than ab- stract language where Shakespeare takes us with King Lear. The scream begins where words and endurance end. Along the same lines, Pascal says at one point, roughly translated, ＂ The eternal silence of all those in- finite spaces terrifies me. ＂
