Metaphorical meanings of the Chinese word "eating"

概念隐喻理论认为隐喻是人类赖以生存的一种认知方式,其认知基础是基于互动体验而产生的意象图式,具有体验性。"吃"作为人类普遍的生存方式,是人类的一种基本体验,汉语中有大量相关的隐喻性表达。文章从概念隐喻理论出发,就汉语"吃"这一动词的隐喻意义进行分析,认为相关概念隐喻可以利用"人体是一个容器"这一本体性隐喻进行解读,并利用体验哲学的基本原则分析了相关隐喻性表达的特点。

The conceptual metaphor theory considers metaphor as a means of cognition based on the image schema which has an experiential basis. ＂Eating＂ as a universal means of existence is a fundamental experience of human beings, and there are lots of metaphorical expressions related to the concept of eating in Chinese. This paper interprets the eating-related metaphorical meanings in Chinese based on the conceptual metaphor theory, and through the ontological metaphor of ＂human body as a container＂ analyzes the characteristics of such metaphorical expressions based on the embodied philosophy.
