Metaphors and the Order of Thinking System

一个系统的生命在于它的有序性。隐喻将一件事物的部分特征和结构映射到另一事物上,其实质就是在思维系统中搭建起了一种新的关系。这样逐次、累积性地建构着人们的知识体系。在此过程中,思维系统的组织程度、复杂性增长,向更有序的状态发展。单个隐喻中差异性和相似性的矛盾组合决定了一次思维系统有序性的增加量。思维系统赖隐喻为食,隐喻以自我毁灭、自我矛盾的形式制造一个有意义的新关系,参与到思维系统秩序的新陈代谢之中。

The life of a system lies in its order.Metaphor maps certain characteristics and structure of one thing to another,and in essence,a new relationship is set up in thinking system.People＇s knowledge system is successively and cumulatively constructed in this way.During this process,thinking system＇s organization degree and complexity grow into a more orderly state of development.The contradictory combination of differences and similarities in a metaphor determines the increase of orderliness in thinking system.Metaphor is food for thinking system.In forms of self-destruction and selfcontradiction,metaphor creates a meaningful new relationship and participates in the metabolism of thinking system.
