A Brief Analysis about ZHANG Eileen's Self-translated Works

张爱玲孤冷而倔强的价值观成就其迥异的写作风格,其作品中流淌的是民族颓变的暗影,穿梭的是她对现世悲凉而冷讽的嘲弄。她竭力在西方文明中获取东方形象的根植地与文化的散播土壤。但可惜的是,西方时政与思潮的操控因素对张爱玲自译文学的翻译策略并不认可,从而影响了其自译作品的受众与接受程度,也干扰了文化传播的力度。

ZHANG Eileen＇s distinct style is inseparable to the coldness and obstinateness from her values. Her work is a sarcastic reflection of the decadence and bleakness of the mundane world,which is going through social unrest. Her endeavor to disseminate oriental images and culture in western world meets with resistance,whose values in self-translation is somehow against the western political situation of the time; hence,the target audience and acceptance is severely crippled.Therefore,the force of culture dissemination is greatly discounted.
