Linxia has a long history.It had been established as a county,state or prefecture since the Qin and Han Dynasties.It is known as the 'Land of Flowers',the 'Land of Painted Pottery' and the 'Land of Peonies'.The peonies of Hezhou are time-honored.Light hundred years ago,peonies had bloomed in Linxia.The cusloms of planting,enjoying and lauding peonies have been prevailing,with enduring popularity.In Linxia,famous for flowers and songs,the fondness for peonies has already infiltrated various fields of people's life.Painting,embroidery,singing,brick carving,wood carving and colored drawing are all themed on peonies.Nowadays,the peony of Hezhou has become the city flower of Linxia,symbolizing Linxia people's aspiration for merry life.
