《三省备边图记》所见隆庆年间闽广的海寇经略

Activities of Pirates in Fujian and Guangdong Provinces during Emperor Longqing's Reign of the Ming Dynasty: A Study Based on the Book Sansheng Beibian Tuji

明隆庆、万历年间,苏愚任官福建、广东,亲历了当时震动朝野的"漳潮海寇"乱事,督兵参与了多次平寇战役。由他编绘的《三省备边图记》现存北京国家图书馆,线装2册,为海内孤本。书中收录了若干幅平寇及升赏的战争图绘,每一幅图均附记事件的详情,图文并重,为前人鲜有注意、引用的资料。作者不仅通过图像连缀成叙事序列,再现了当时官府征剿海寇的激烈战况,也以亲历者的身份记录了闽广两省经略海寇的曲折和细节,于海寇的器械装备、将士临阵表现、两省兵船的协调作战以及战术谋略的施展等等,均可补已有官书文集记载的不足,对揭示明代中后期的海防运作有重要参考价值。

Su Yu, a military official in Fujian and Guangzhou provinces during Emperor Longqing＇s and Emperor Wanli＇s reigns of the Ming Dynasty, witnessed the notorious pirate attacks in Zhangzhou and Chaozhou and he also led some battles against the pirates. His work Sansheng Beibian Tuff （ 《三省备边图记》 ）, the thread - bound edition with two volumes kept in the National Library, is regarded as the unique copy in China. This work which has been largely ignored and rarely cited. With a good collections of pictures and detailed records, this work describes events and battles against pirates and even official promotion and awarding, ＇reconstructing the fierce battles in suppressingthe pirates. As a participant, the author provided detailed records about the complicat- ed progress of the battles, the suppressing of pirates, the enemy＇s weapons, perform- ances of the armies, cooperation between Fujian Army and Guangdong Army, and the tactical strategies. All these provided valuable supplement to the official records and are important for understanding the coastal defence in the mid and late Ming Dynasty.
