澳大利亚高等教育机构经历了五个历史发展阶段,纵向上分为大学和技术与继续教育学院两层,横向上技术与继续教育学院不分类、大学被分为若干类。澳大利亚高等教育机构在稳定高校分类、依章分类、特色分类、学位授予和公私相辅等方面有一定的特点,在保持高校层次和类型稳定、分类有法可依、分类以特色为导向、按学位授予分类和发展民办院校等方面可供我国借鉴。

The Australian higher education institutions have experienced five stages in the history,and divided into university and college of technical and further education in the lengthwise. The college of technical and further education didn＇ t classified but university has several classifications in the crosswise. Australian institutions of higher education provide the characteristics about stability classification of institutions,classify according to charter and future,degree granting,public or private.
