India's Strategy in South Pacific: An Analysis

南太地区位于太平洋中央的位置,是亚太各国南北互通、东西交往的重要中转站,是世界各国海上贸易往来的重要战略通道。作为一个迅速崛起的南亚地区国家,作为一个有着远大志向的大国,印度的南太战略既是其大国意愿和地缘战略思想传统的体现,又是南太平洋现实情势的催化物。从根本上说,新时期印度的南太战略突显了其积极落实"东进政策"的决心,也是印度改变在南太缺乏稳定战略的努力。印度在南太地区的战略体现了其鲜明的传承与变革的特色,是国内外各种因素综合作用的结果。

Lying in the central part of the Pacific, the South Pacific region is working as an important transfer route for the communication among Asia-Pacific countries as well as a strategic channel for maritime trade. As a reflection of its traditions of geopolitical strategic ideology, India's strategy in South Pacific is bringing about a major impact to this region. Indicating India's determination to implement the Act-East Policy, New Delhi's participation to South Pacific affairs also render itself a more stabilized South Pacific Policy.
