In the book A Study of Translation Competence from Chinese into English, the author demonstrates the significance and feasibility of Chinese-English translation competence training, puts forward and puts into practice her training mode, and expounds the princi- ples, content, and methods for the effective development of learners＇ Chinese-English translation skills. Her work lays the foundation for further researches in the study of translation out of one＇s mother tongue and fills in a gap which has hitherto existed in translation studies.
