《艺术的理论与哲学》是夏皮罗撰写的一部论辩色彩很强的著作。此书中每一篇文章几乎都存在着潜在的论敌。本文作者梳理了《艺术的理论与哲学》中夏皮罗的理论主张,总结、分析了夏皮罗的艺术史观点,并分析了夏皮罗在艺术史学术圈内没有获得应有地位的原因,以更加客观的角度评价夏皮罗的艺术史理论。

Theory, and Pbilosophy of Art is an argumentative work of Meyer Schapiro, where there seems to be a potential opponent on every page of article. This review concludes Schapiro＇s theory and concepts in TDeory and Phiilosophv of Art, and analyzes his views of art history as well as reasons why he did not gain the status he deserved among academic community of art history. This review evaluates Schapiro＇s theory in a more objective perspective.
