摘要
当前,大部分研究型大学英语专业院系的培养方案仍以技能训练为主。技能训练既不利于语言学习,也不符合研究型大学和人文学科的培养目标。我国城市中小学英语教育的普及化,也对英语学科提出了较高的要求。英语学科的改革和转型迫在眉睫。由于文学是语言和思想的物质形态,也是情与理的互交互融,把文学作为转型切入点,不仅合理而且可行。从文学入手进行转型,英语专业教育可以向有利于学、研、教相结合的方向发展,逐步达到以文养言的语言教学目标,以言促智的人文学科培养目标,以研助教、以教促研的研究型大学专业发展目标。
Most undergraduate English programs in China's research universities are skill-training programs. Skill training neither benefits language learning nor facilitates the goals of the research university and of humanities. Skill training is also a repetition of what elementary and high schools in urban areas have been doing in their English courses offered to students of all ages. To satisfy the needs of students,humanities,and research universities,English programs have to be restructured.Incorporating more literature courses into the curriculum would be a feasible and effective initial step since literature may bridge the gap between language and thinking,between learning and research,and between pedagogy and research. Once this step is installed,the goal of improving both language ability and research ability through English may possibly be materialized.
