The Characteristic Theme of Qiancao-Chenzhong Society

浅草—沉钟社是中国现代文学史上一个重要的文学社团。同仁们在“五四”新文化运动中迅速实现了“人的觉醒”和“人的发现” ,并在中西文化的交汇中 ,确定了个性主义的价值观。当他们发而为文时 ,高扬个体自我的价值 ,讴歌个体自我的理想 ,倾诉个体自我的痛苦 ,表达个体自我反抗社会的要求 ,从而形成了鲜明的个性主题。在“五四”时期 ,他们以个人的觉醒加入到时代的合唱中 ;在20年代中期以后至30年代 ,他们在个性主潮消歇之后仍然顽强地持守着个性主题。他们在创作中对个体尊严、价值和权利的执着在与革命文学主题对个性的忽视的对照中 ,显示出了其文学史乃至思想史的价值。

Qiancao-Chenzhong is an important literary society in the history of the modern Chinese literature. In the May 4th New Cultural Movement, the members in the society achieved 'humane awareness' and 'humane discovery' and they established their personality value in the exchanges between the Chinese culture and western culture. In their compositions, they evolved a typical theme of personality through singing highly for individual values, eulogizing individual dreams, revealing mental agony and expressing insubordination to the society. During the May 4th period, they joined their individual awareness to the social chorus and in the period from middle 1920s to 1930s when the tide of personality doctrines receded, they still withhold the theme of personality. The comparison between their adherence to individuals' dignity, value and rights in their creations and the revolutionary literature ignorance of personalities showed their value and positions both in the literary history and in the ideological history.
