This paper makes qualitative and quantitative analysis on academic evaluating papers based on ESI database by using bibliometrics and literature analysis software "Bibexcel". The study shows that there are three levels of hot topics of academic evaluation based on ESI database: primary, intermediate and advanced academic evaluation. Primary academic evaluation is the research about countries, institutions, scientific research personnel and journals; intermediate academic evaluation is the research about scientific research cooperation, discipline construction; advanced academic evaluation is the research about measuring the factors of the scientific research level, the academic evaluation index and establishing evaluation index system. Moreover, it explores the future research topics as follows: carrying out academic evaluation based on baselines and citation thresholds; predicting academic trend and hotspots; indicating directions for discipline construction of countries and organizations which aren't shortlisted.
