Studying Artists in Anthropology:An Intellectual-Historical Project

本文提出了一项即将展开的学术史研究课题,意在记录和分析文化人类学对视觉艺术的创造者的研究状况。作为本课题的前奏,本文就20世纪上半叶西方人类学家对小型传统社会的艺术家的研究做了一个简要梳理。

This paper introduces a forthcoming intellectual-historical research project aimed at documenting and analyzing the ways in which the creators of visual art have been studied in cultural anthropology. As a prelude to this project, the paper provides a brief acquaintance with pioneering studies of artists in small-scale traditional societies carried out by Western anthropologists in the first half of the twentieth century.
