During the Spring Autumn & the Warring States period,an ideology of back to the ancients emerged over the country,bringing back to the spiritual stage the long forgotten West Zhou dynasty myths and legends.The choir in praise of the philosophy and virtue of the ancient sages led to pious reverence and worship from most literary men of that time.This devotion prevented them from accepting the contemporary social politics and ethics,resulted in their antagonism towards reality and enhanced to a great extent their deplorable consciousness and personality,thus making them opinionatedly stick to their idealist principles and ignore poverty and disaster.At the same time,this conservative force formed under the impact of the back to the ancients tendency suppressed the innovative ideology and persecuted their representatives into a state of calamity.
