科举制度是唐王朝用人制度的重要组成部分,可以说它就是唐代官场的核心。落第诗是举子在经历科举失败以后根据自己切身经历抒写而成,是研究唐代文人面对失败与挫折的第一手素材,也是研究唐代政治制度的重要史料。唐代落第诗在四个时期有着各自鲜明的特点,并与唐代的政治制度变化密切相关。

The imperial examination system played an important even key part in the employing and promotion system of Tang Dynasty, and it was considered as the core of the officialdom in Tang Dynasty. The poems composed by the failing examinees are based on their own experiences after failing examination.
