代谢组学不同于以往只是采用单一指标或少量几个指标研究某种病理和生理变化,而是通过对机体代谢的终端产物进行综合的多元化分析,从整体上展示了人体内在的变化状态和趋势。中医理论最重要的就是"整体观"、"动态观"、"辨证观",这与现代代谢组学的研究思路不谋而合。代谢组学为中医研究提供薪新的技术平台,目前,谢组学在中医治疗冠心病疾病的研究领域中已经取得了一些进展。
