奥康纳的短篇小说《好人难寻》从宗教信仰、道德人性、社会文明三个方面展现了西方现代社会的人性异化主题。作者提出的宗教救赎并未解决人性异化问题。弗洛姆提出摆脱异化要从人性出发,培养人健康的性格,最终形成健康的社会,从而摆脱异化对人性的困扰。
