《格丹格言》的英译原则探析

On the Translation Principles of “Dgeldan Gnomic Verses”

格言诗是藏族文学的一种重要表现形式。班钦·索南扎巴创作的《格丹格言》是继萨班·贡嘎坚赞的《萨迦格言》之后又一部著名的格言诗作品,同时也是藏族文学史上不可多得的优秀文学作品,历经四百多年却历久弥新。索南扎巴创作的《格丹格言》目前在国内外仅有李正栓一个英译本。通过对《格丹格言》英译本进行研读和分析发现,该书以诗译诗,追求形式对等;韵律上追求音美,但不因韵损意;内容以达意为上,忠实原作。

The Gnomic Verse is a signiifcant form of Tibetan literature, of which “Dgeldan Gnomic Verses” is another famous work of Gnomic Verses after the publication of “Sakya Gnomic Verses”. “Dgeldan Gnomic Verses” has been considered as a rarely excellent literary works in the history of Tibetan literature enduring for four hundred years. “Dgeldan Gnomic Verses” has only one English version that is rendered by Li Zhengshuan both at home and abroad up to now. Through the analysis of “Dgeldan Gnomic Verses”, this paper expects to explore the translation principles of this work from three aspects respectively. Li Zhengshuan spares no efforts to follow the following principles: translating poetry in the form of poetry and maintaining the form equivalence, achieving the musical beauty in the meter without damaging the meaning, and seeking to be truthful to the meaning in the content. Therefore, it hopes to inspire the majority of English readers to appreciate and enjoy the artistic charms of “Dgeldan Gnomic Verses”, thus making a contribution to the spread of Tibetan culture and the cause of Chinese classics translation.
