湖北马口窑是长江中游地区影响最大、持续时间最长并尚有大量遗存的古民窑,传统民窑陶艺的创作往往依托自然环境和社会文明,湖北省内山水相依相伴,优质红色粘土随处可取,汉水文化博大精深,多少书画家、诗人、政治家隐居于此。独特的地理条件和人文环境滋养下的花木虫鱼、民风民俗及脍炙人口的唐诗宋词、四大古典文学名著、经典戏曲故事等常常被运用到器皿装饰纹样中。

Hubei Makou Kiln s an ancient folk kiln with the greatest influence,the longest history and a lot of deposits in the middle reach of the Yangtze River.Function,shape,decoration,style and craftsmanship of pottery wares of Makou Kiln demonstrate prominent local characteristics,reflect regional cultural elements,and greatly inspire creation and development of the contemporary ceramics art in Hubei.Potters consciously draw on traditional crafts,decorative methods,glaze colors and drawings to present cultural elements of Makou Kiln,and create a number of contemporary ceramic works with both strong regional flavors and distinct contemporariness.
