凌叔华是五四时期重要的女性作家、画家,她出身官宦之家、书画世家,自幼习书学画,才华横溢,与林徽因、冰心一起被称为"文坛三才女"。《古韵》是凌叔华的自传体小说,小说中的插图由凌叔华本人绘制,她将文学与图像紧密结合,以文释图,以图解文,形成一种图文相互对照的关系,图中流露出她对自我的认知。

Suhua Ling is an important female writer and painter during the period around the May=4th Movement, She was born in a family with an official status and a tradition of painting and calligraphy and she was trained to write and paint since childhood. Suhua was regarded as one of the ＂Three talented women in literature＂ together with Lin Huiyin and Bing Xin for her Scintillating wit.Ancient Melodies is Suhua＇ s autobiographical novel,the illustrations of which were drawn by Suhua herself. Suhua＇ s novel combines writing and painting closely, showcasing a perfect match between figures and texts, from which herself-cognition can be examined in to aspects.
