图书馆自出版服务在国外已经得到广泛的推广,其对图书馆的发展意义重大,具体包括以下几点:搭建读者与作者沟通的桥梁,丰富馆藏内容,降低采购成本,培养本地作者,宣传本地文化。我国图书馆应从了解提供自出版服务的关注点、寻找可靠的合作伙伴、培养本地作者群等方面着手推进自出版服务,同时在这个过程中必须注意法律授权、质量把控和读者使用等问题。

Library self-publishing is significant to the development of libraries and has widely promoted at abroad, including： linking readers and writers, enriching library collections, reducing the purchase costs, training local writers, and propogating local culture. In the process of promoting self-publishing, libraries in China should pay attention to the following aspects： understanding the focus point of self-publishing, seeking reliable parteners, and cultivating local writer groups, while problems on legal authorization, quality control and use of readers must be concerned.
