Study on the Overseas Students Sending Policy of Tsinghua from 1909 — 1949

清华始终坚持开放办学,长期坚持选派、资助留学生学习世界先进的科学技术、融合中西文明,发掘、培养了一批杰出人才,为近代中国社会、经济、科技、文化的发展做出了巨大贡献。清华自觉承担服务国家、服务社会的职能。之所以如此,源于清华的传统、理念以及特定的社会背景和需求。

Tsinghua College and Tsinghua University consistently persisted in opening education policy, and continually selected and funded overseas students to learn advanced science and technology. It made great contributions to the development of Chinese society, economy, science and technology, and culture by fusing Chinese and Western civilization,and discovering and cultivating a large number of outstanding talents. Tsinghua spontaneously shouldered responsibility of serving country and society because of Tsinghua’s tradition, philosophy and certain social background and needs.
