《深深的河流》是秘鲁"新土著主义"小说家何塞·玛利亚·阿尔格达斯的集大成之作。在这部作品中作者将秘鲁山区的一所教会学校构建成一个虚拟的"微缩社会",通过描绘教会学校中暴力横行、种族歧视等各种乱象,忠实地反映了当时秘鲁社会的主要矛盾;并通过塑造主人公的典型形象表达了其社会变革的积极愿望。

Deep Rivers is the masterpiece of José María Arguedas,Neo-indigenism writer from Peru. In the novel the catholic boarding school is presented as a virtual microcosms that faithfully reproduce the social conflicts of Peru in the 20 th century,such as the violence,the racism,etc.;meanwhile the author expresses his good will of social changes by creating some typical main characters.
