Translation of Color Idioms under the Guidance of Functional Equivalence

各种颜色在语言中使用频繁,尤其是由他们组成的习语,更是生动形象,言简意赅,具有鲜明的民族特色。在翻译过程中,常常会遇到很多问题和困难。对于颜色习语的翻译,我们决不能单纯寻求字面意义上的简单对等,而是要从整体上去分析习语的各种意义与功能,以出发语与译入语对各自读者所产生的实际效果为重点,最终达到其在意义和功能上的对等。

Color idioms are vivid,concise,and have striking national characteristics. But there are many obsta-cles in the translation of color idioms. When translating color idioms,we can not only seek the equivalence of literal meaning,but should analyze their meanings and functions entirely. The translation of color idioms should convey the meaning of the original in such a way that it will make the same effect on the target language readers as the original does upon the original language readers,so as to achieve functional equivalence.
