中国传统绘画在语言上选“线”,在媒材上用“墨”,在技法上重“积”,在心态上近“融”,分别与西方传统绘画的“面”、“色”、“刷”、“析”形成审美特征上的差异。这是由中西方绘画一重“内敛”、一重“外张”的不同的审美心性所决定的。

Using 'line'as its own language, and 'ink' as its media, and highlighting 'accumulating and experiencing in its technique while focusing on paintres' emotion close to 'harmony with nature' , Chinese traditional painting forms its different characters while western painting pays great attention to 'surface 'color brushing or painting and 'clearly demarcated from nature'.These differences result from the different aesthetic tastes: the former laying emphasis on restraint while the latter on freedom.
