罗龙文事迹考

A Study of Luo Longwen's Deeds

罗龙文是嘉靖年间政治舞台上的重要人物,但其事迹多有模糊不清之处,对其评价亦褒贬不一。今以新发现的罗氏家族文献为基础,结合各类传世资料,对罗龙文的主要事迹进行考辨,研究发现:罗龙文出身于徽商家族,很早就成为严嵩父子的心腹,在抗倭战争中立有大功。他的垮台与被杀则是嘉靖晚年激烈党争的结果,加于他的罪名大多数出于政敌的诬陷。至于罗龙文与歌妓王翠翘之间的曲折故事,虽然不无所本,但主要是文学渲染的结果。对罗龙文的评价,不能简单地以奸臣或功臣做结论。

Luo Longwen was an important political figure during Jiajing Emperor＇s reign of the Ming Dynasty. However,Luo＇s deeds have been inaccurately recorded and has received a mixed reaction. Based on the newly-discovered literature about Luo＇s family and other existing materials,the author of this paper has conducted a research on Luo＇s deeds. According to the research,Luo was born in a family of a Huizhou merchant. He won the trust of Yan Song and his son at his young age,and made great contribution in the struggle against Japanese pirates. What caused the downfall and murder of Luo Longwen was the conflicts between political parties in the Late Jiajing Period. Accusations against him were only fabricated or framed up. And the things between Luo and Wang Cuiqiao,the geisha,were greatly exaggerated in the literary works. Therefore,it is unreasonable to simply conclude that Luo Longwen was either a treacherous court official or a meritorious statesman.
