The paper introduces the basic content of CATIA software and layout design, and summarizes the use of 3D virtual data for vehicle model, vehicle general arrangement plan, the data checking, man-machine engineering and automotive CAE analysis of optimization design of key parts. The results show that using CATIA software application in general layout of cars greatly reduces the development time and design costs. What＇s more, it can win more market opportunities for new products.
