Objective To explore the effect of six-minutes' walk training on patients' quality of life with chronic obstruc- tive pulmonary disease(COPD). Methods 86 patients in remission with moderate or severe COPD were randomly divided into ei- ther exercise group or control group. The patients in training group received six-minutes' walk exercise once a day for 12 months; while the control group only accepted conventional drug treatment. Patients' walking distance, quality of life and acute exacerbation were compared between two groups before and after the treatment. Results In exercise group, patients' walking distance with six minutes improved from (285±33.7 )m to( 365 ± 41.6 )m, and the CAT scores decreased from( 21.2 ± 5.4 )points to ( 14.2± 4. 6 ) points compared with before, the difference was statistically significant( P 〈 0.01 ) ;At the same time both were better than control group, the difference was statistically significant(P 〈0. 05 ). The number of exacerbations of patients in exercise group decreased significantly than the control group( 1.61 ± 1.47 ) vs. ( 2. 69 ± 2. 03 ), the difference was statistically significant( P 〈 0. 05 ). Con- clusion Six-minutes' walk training can effectively improve the quality of life of patients with COPD and reduce the acute exacer- bation, which is suitable for communities.
