Spell is an important cultural element in Harry Potter, one of the most popular fantastic fictions in modern times. This paper focuses the translation skills of the spells, which is no doubt a difficult point. To produce correct and vivid translation, word-for word translation is far from enough. Readers＇ response must be taken into consideration as well. It suggests the use of rhetorical devices, such as exaggeration, metaphor, and reduplication. Creation of images and annotation also make the translation even better. Besides, some problems in the existing versions are pointed out.
