On Charles C. Fries' view of linguistics as a science from the perspective of structuralism

摘要语言科学观是Charles C.Fries语言思想的重要组成部分。从结构主义视角出发,对Charles C.Fries的语言科学观进行梳理,提出其语言科学观虽然具有一定历史局限性,但是在语料的选择、区分对待语言理论与语言研究方法、科学对待意义上展现了其创新性,对于现代语言学,如语料库语言学、对比语言学、系统功能语言学和外语教学的发展具有重要的启示意义。 Charles C. Fries views linguistics as a science. This paper probes into summarizing Charles C. Fries＇ view of linguistics as a science from the perspective of structuralism,pointing out its historical limitations due to American structuralism on one hand and its innovativeness on his selection of data,differentiation between linguistic theories and linguistic techniques,and his scientific view of meaning on the other hand,and further exploring its great contributions to the development of modern linguistics such as corpus linguistics,comparative linguistics,systemic functional linguistics and foreign language teaching.
