SYNCRETIC PLURALISM: THE THREE DIMENSIONS OF ETHNIC WORK

民族工作的对象就是渉及民族关系、民族发展、民族问题等的事务。2014年中央民族工作会议指出了未来一段时间民族工作的主要内容,宏观概括了民族工作的三个维度,即从民生建设着手、从文化认同凝心、从民族团结立命。民生建设是民族工作之基,文化认同是民族工作之根,民族团结既是各民族的生命线,更是民族工作之本。按照唯物史观的社会发展过程和动力学说,民生建设、文化认同与民族团结的正效合力是民族工作基本职能,其能促进社会和谐、秩序稳定;而民族工作三维度的出发点则在于凝聚多元文化,使中华各民族和睦相处、和衷共济、和谐发展。

The object of ethnic work involves ethnic relations,ethnic development and ethnic issuesetc.The central ethnic work conference of 2014 has pointed out the main content of the ethnic work in thefuture.lt summarizes the three dimensions on a macro level,namelysetting the improvement of peopledlivelihood as the startingpoint,bringing people together to form the identity of Chinese culture and consolidatingethnicsolidarity as the goal. Construction of the peopled livelihood is the base of ethnic work, culturalidentity is the root of ethnic work, ethnic solidarity is not only the lifeline of all ethnic groups, but also isthe essence of ethnic work. According to the theory of historical materialism on the process and dynamicsof social development,the basic functions of ethnic work covering the construction of the peopled livelihood,the cultural identity, and ethnic solidaritycan promote social harmony and stabilizesocial order.Whereas the starting point of three dimensions of ethnic work is to agglomerate plural cultures in order toachieve harmonious co-existence, mutual aids and development of all ethnic groups in China.
