Virginia Woolf was considered as the forerunner of the modernism and feminism in the twentieth century. Being a recognized feminist forerunner and spiritual leader of the feminism movement,Woolf was unwilling to confine herself to single- sex thinking. She put forward Androgyny Theory and achieved the integration of gender temperament as the ultimate goal of feminism,which was reflected perfectly in To The Lighthouse.
