With the concern raising on university rankings, it presents the diversified trend in China. This paper makes a tentative and deep discussion on how to improve those university rankings＇public relia- bility from the following five perspectives by linking the theory with practice ： establishing the third - party assessment agencies, improving the professional ability of universities ranking, inheriting the public welfare, persisting the concept of non - coerciveness, and carrying out the responsibility of the government.
