The construction of pragmatic theories,their growth and future development are an academically hot issue at home and abroad at the retrospect of the twentieth century and expectation of the twenty first century.The essay aims at systematically expounding the philosophical basis of pragmatics,different pragmatic schools and research methods.In particular,since 1990s,with the occurrence of new pragmatic inference,pragmatics has turned out to be full of indfinite life and interdisciplinary glamour.
