Based on an interview with British architectural theorist PeterBlundell Jones on the topic of self-built housing in the UK, this paper analyses the self-built housing system led by British architect Walter Segal in the 1970s and the current pioneering practice WikiHouse platform through a comparative case study method. It emphasizes the shared disciplinary knowledge and professional value from slightly different methodologies of two generations of self-built housing in the UK, and concludes by an argument on the practical operation of self-built housing system in the specific British context.
