The great families of Xingzhong fu in Liao Dynasty——focus on calendar tombs in Chaoyang region

现今朝阳地区辽代纪年墓葬,有墓志出土的共41座,墓主身份与时代明确者有39座。从墓志可见,耿、刘、韩、赵、王、耶律六大家族,世居高位,经常与皇族或后族通婚;其余家族大部分在此任职,也可称为中等显族,势力不可小觑。这些世族使兴中府地区崇佛风气日盛,儒学得以普及,促进了经济、文化等各方面的发展。

There are 41 epitaphs of Liao Dynasty in Chaoyang today. It has 39 tomb masters who had clear status and ages. It can be seen from the epitaphs that the families of Han, Geng, Liu,Zhao, Wang, Yelv, who always got intermarriaged with the royal family and have high positions generation to generation. The rest of families who were called the medium nobles could not be underestimated, because they were powerful in this place. These aristocracies increased the atmosphere of the worship of Buddhism and Confucianism in the region of Xingzhong fu, which promote the development of economy and culture etc.
