Ethical Introspection in Mudan and Auden's Poems

伦理反思有着悠久的哲学传统,也是诗人的天职所在。作为对时代异常敏感的两位诗人,穆旦和奥登对伦理的内质和实践进行了不懈的探索,涉及快乐与幸福、死亡与新生、理想与信仰、生存与道德等诸多主题。这种伦理反思强化了二位诗人诗歌的人文内涵,也让人们看到了中西现代诗歌在伦理探讨上的共同之处与相异之点,同时,他们的伦理沉吟也折射出现代人的生存困境和突破存在危机的努力。

The ethical introspection has a long history in philosophy, and is also a poet＇s natural duty in writing. Mudan and Auden, as intelligent poets who are very sensitive to their age, explore the essence and practice of ethic continuously in their lives in terms of pleasure and happiness, death and palingenesis, ide- al and belief, survival and morality and so on. And such ethical introspection strengthens the humanistic connotations of their poetry, from which the similarities and differences in ethical exploration between Chi- nese and western modern poetry writing are indentified and located. What＇s more, Mudan and Auden＇s ethical introspection also reveals modern men＇s survival predicaments and their efforts to break through existential crisis.
