Diabetes mellitus and senile dementia

糖尿病与老年性痴呆[又称阿尔茨海默病（AD）]是老年人的易患疾病。流行病学研究发现在老年人群中糖尿病和AD有很多相似之处。随着人口老龄化日益明显，严重影响着老年人的健康，深入了解糖尿病和AD之间的联系，对进一步理解AD的发病机制及寻求新的治疗方法有重要意义。本文对糖尿病和AD的关系作一综述，以期提高对两者关系的认识。

The elderly is susceptible to diabetes mellitus and senile dementia, which is also called Alzheimer＇ s disease （AD）. Epidemiological studies showed that there are so much in common between diabetes and AD in the elderly. With population aging, these 2 diseases severely threaten the elderly＇ s health. In-depth understanding of the relationship between diabetes and AD is of great significance to further elucidating the pathogenesis of AD and seeking for new therapeutic approaches. This article reviewed the relationship between senile diabetes and dementia in order to increase the awareness of the above 2 diseases for clinical physicians.
