陈无择重视五运六气,认为五运六气是天地阴阳运行升降之常道,疾病的发生,在于德化政令灾变,治之各以五味所胜调和,以平为期;六气为病,要考虑司天在泉、上下加临、标本中气等。时气是天地有余不足违戾之气,随人脏气虚实而为病,与感冒中伤,瘟疫不同,疫病则是四时兼有不正之气;脏腑配天地,脉合天地运,天行六气,可以是疾病外因,六淫即是寒暑燥湿风热,六化本乎一气,以运变而分阴阳,反则为六淫。陈无择在《素问·气交变大论》的基础上,总结了五运时气发病特点,在《素问·六元正纪大论》基础上,总结了六气发病特点,陈氏深谙《内经》五运六气之理,运气之异象,宗《内经》治则治法,倡五味合天地运气之用,言以《内经》五运六气理论为指导,开创性的研制五运时气民病证治方十首,六气时行民病证治方六首,计十六方。
