In modern times, with the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Qing Dynasty and Japan, Chinese ministers to Japan began to affect the exchange of knowledge on Sino- Japanese poetry. Three generations of ministers including He Ruzhang, Li Shuchang and Wang Fengzao contributed historical information. During the Republican period of China, the communication on Sino- Japanese poetry was dominated by Chinese Ministers to Japan and centered around Wang Rongbao. He followed the path of predecessors and tried his best to make a contribution to the exchanges of Sino- Japanese poetry which could be maintained despite the deepening tensions in Sino-Japanese relations.
