Literature As a Study on Emotion

"文学是情学"提供了探求文学与人、与人生和人性之间隐秘关系的通幽小径。情最贴近人类生命本原,直接源自于人类的本能和原始欲望状态,也最能反映潜藏在人们潜意识中的能量和能力,激发人们的想象和创造力。情之回归,不单是对于压制和束缚人性的各种传统制度与观念的挑战,也是文学回归人性、回归大众、尤其是回归人类日常生活之路。"情学"也许不仅仅是一个文学问题,而人类对于情的认识,也不仅仅止于对文学艺术的探讨,实际上这是一个重新反思人类精神史和思想史,继而更加深入认识人类自我的时机和转折点。

As literature may be interpreted and studied from different angles and on different levels itself,it therefore provides a curved path for exploring the secret relationship between literature and man,literature and life,and literature and human nature,from the perspective of ＂literature as a study on emotion＂. For,emotion is closest to the life origin of man,and is directly derived from human instinct and,the state of man’s original desire,whereas it reflects most fully the energy and ability hidden in people’s subconsciousness,thus stimulating man’s imagination and creativity. The return of emotion is therefore not only a challenge to the various traditional systems and concepts,but a path for literature to return to human nature and to the masses,especially to the everyday life of man as well. Consequently,the＂study of emotion＂is not merely an issue in literature,and man’s understanding of emotion,too,is not merely an exploration of literature and arts,for,as a matter of fact,it is the very opportunity and turning- point to introspect once more the history of human spirit and thought so as to understand the more deeply man himself.
