Multiple Perspectives and East Asian Higher Education Research

摘要 东亚高等教育近几十年来取得了令人瞩目的成就,然而国际学术界对其发展前景的预测却存在较大分歧。不同学者在对东亚高等教育发展问题上的看法受到他们在研究中有意或无意间所采用的不同视角的影响。本文试图分析"视角"在社会科学研究中的重要性,笔者认为目前关于东亚高等教育发展的研究主要基于西方的理论构建,继而提出当前东亚高等教育研究亟需多元化的研究视角,尤其需要重视采用历史文化视角以挖掘与研究东亚传统文化对当代高等教育发展的影响。 The last three decades have witnessed rapid development with drastic achievement in higher education of East Asia.However,opinions vary with respect to the future of East Asian higher education.Disparities in these opinions might have arisen from differing research perspectives.This article attempts to analyze the importance of perspective in social research.Based on the analysis of current English literature,it argues that current conceptualization of East Asian higher education development relies almost entirely on Western theoretical constructions,and calls for multiple perspectives,especially perspectives that give weight to the impact of traditional East Asian ways of cultural thinking on contemporary development of East Asian higher education.
