国学经典英译的时代要求——基于外文出版社出版的《英韵:三字经·弟子规·千字文》

The Times' Call for English Translation of Chinese Classics—Based on Rhymed English Translations of Three Word Primer,Canons for Disciplies and One Thousand Words

国学经典外译对翻译研究、国家话语体系的建构以及中国文化对外传播来说都是非常必要的。然而,现有的国学经典译作并不理想,突出表现于语言形式、思想内容以及文化蕴含诸方面的不足或缺失。这一状况归根结底在于翻译理论和文化自觉的欠缺。本文以《三字经》《弟子规》《千字文》对比分析为例,就其语言形式、思想内容以及文化蕴含诸方面进行论述以说明国学经典英译所应遵循的原则和方法。

In this era of global communication, the foreign translation, especially the English translation, of Chinese literary works is essential to translation studies, to the construction of national discourse and to the transmission of Chinese culture. Their translations so far are inadequate in the form of language, ideological contents and cultural connotations mainly due to our lack of theoretical and cultural awareness. This paper tries to discuss the significance of classical translation in terms of the form of language, ideological contents and cultural connotations and takes the rhymed English translations of Three Word Prim- er, Canons for Disciples and One Thousand Words as examples to illustrate the necessity of the English translation of Chinese classics.
