歌剧《江姐》诞生于1964年,第一年便创下了演出286场的纪录,至今没有其他歌剧能打破这一纪录。这部红色经典民族歌剧曾风靡大江南北,每每上演观众仍为＂她＂落泪。在庆祝中国共产党成立95周年以及上海歌剧院院庆60周年之际,上海歌剧院于6月29日、30日及7月1日在上海大剧院献演这部红色经典。此次上海歌剧院重新制作这部经典之作,具有重要的纪念意义——用雷国华导演的话来说,＂这是一次致敬,
