How to Improve English Applying Abilities of the Students in Vocational Universities

职业大学的英语教学应该打破常规，不断探索培养学生应用能力的新路子，提高他们的英语素质，教师可先引导学生掌握科学的英语教学方法，提高学生的自学能力，再根据学生的各自特点，使能力的发展有所侧重。

English teachers in vocational universities should break with convention and continuously explore the new ways of developing the students'English applying abilities and improving their English qualities. They can first guide their stu- dents to master the scientific methods of studying English, and improve their abilities to teach themselves. For example make scientific use of dictionaries, work hard on remembering basic English vocabularies and lay special emphasis on different lan- guage abilities according to different characters.
